Talk to people on other Matrix servers and use other Matrix apps.

Messaging someone on another server

Start a new chat with their full address, for example @sam:example.org. Their server must be reachable and allowed by this server's federation policy (closed).

Encryption across servers

End-to-end encryption works the same across servers. Verify people on other servers exactly as you would locally.

Using another Matrix app

In a Matrix app, choose a custom homeserver and enter 0r834h.duckdns.org. The app discovers the homeserver automatically and signs you in through your Lumen account.

Limitations

• Servers in a room keep their own copy of its history and metadata.
• If the other person's server is down, messages are delivered when it comes back.
• Room names and topics are not end-to-end encrypted.
